Speckled Wood (Pararge aegeria) |
| Successive broods fly from March through to October. Both sexes are dark brown with speckled markings, orange on the male and paler yellow on the female. The larvae feed on grasses whilst the adults prefer shaded places, where the territorial males can be seen fighting in spirals up into the air over a sunny patch of light. |
